Double-Headed steam to Altoona on Conrail
John photographed the ill-fated doubleheaded steam special that ran from Pittsburgh to Altoona, PA. Conrail was a new entity, and hosted the Reading 2102 dressed as Allegheny 2102. Assisting was Cuyahoga Valley [Ex GTW] 4070. By the time they got to Horseshoe Curve, Conrail had come to the rescue with diesel power. I was accompanied by John Briggs and Tom Kelcec.
