Most of this property was slated for urban renewal as a part of the WTC, the condition appears bleak at the end as commuters head to their offices.

So many things date this vintage 1967 view; the ancient ferry terminal and adjacent pier, the 1960's advertising posters, the large number of male commuters wearing hats, and the huge Cadillac limo. Note also, the decades-old "autos & occupants" signage, also, the "next boat" sign, which was illuminated whenever a ferry was loading in that particular slip.

The elderly ferry terminal stood for some time after the ferries stopped running, but, soon enough, was demolished along with the adjacent piers. With the advent of container ships, traditional break-bulk freighters and their ancient finger piers in lower Manhattan were rapidly becoming obsolete by the later 60's. Growing up in the 60's, I have many memories of such bygone scenes; as a youngster, I had no idea that, even then, what i was seeing was living on borrowed time.

Today, this location is totally changed, the towers and riverfront walks of Battery Park city now occupy the area where the old Barclay St. ferry terminal once stood.
