The Barclay St. Terminal was an old decrepit structure from an earlier era.

During off-peak hours (and, on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, after weekend ferry service was abolished in 1964) the old Barclay St. ferry terminal was an echoing, silent hulk of a structure, populated only by pigeons and gulls. The colorful rows of framed advertising posters gazed out at empty spaces, and the idle slips were quiet and lonely, devoid of boats.

Come a weekday rush hour, however, this antiquated terminal would again bustle with the frenzied parade of well-dressed commuters on the move...but not for much longer.
