| I tag along with my NYC railfan buddies including William Rosenberg to shoot far-off interurbans and steam in Ontario. Along the way, we make stops in Rochester (see Working the NYC Water Level Route trip), and discover NYC steam in action at Niagara Falls, N.Y. NYC steam had been banished to lines west of Buffalo earlier in the same summer of 1953.The major event for us was to ride and photograph the Niagara, St. Catherines & Toronto Rwy, a CNR Interurban line along the Welland Canal in Ontario. The trip ends with a grab shot of an eastbound DLW freight led by F''''''''s in the darkening skies near Wallace, N.Y., along with a now classic shot of a then-classic DLW Pagoda-style depot (which lives on as a private residence today)! | |||
